By now, hostesses of bridal showers have many, many options for games to be played at bridal showers. The list is not nearly as long for baby shower games; the possibilities are simply not as numerous. Since bridal shower games have become so popular, we know that people must find it a fun feature of showers, so why not include games when planning baby showers?

A Few Options

An old standard game for a baby shower is the game where guests are given a blank bingo grid and they have to write down possible gifts that will be received at the shower. Of course, grids must be made before the opening of gifts has begun. Once grids are made, the mother-to-be can begin opening gifts. As the guest of honor is opening presents, guests are kept busy at this competitive baby shower game; they must cross out the gifts that she receives that they had previously written down in their grid. No cheating!! The first woman to get a row of crossed-out gifts wins this baby shower game. This is a good game because it's very simple to prepare and it gives the guests something more to do than 'ooh' and 'aah' as the mother-to-be opens the gifts.

Another option is to play baby trivia; a shower game that requires much more preparation. The hostess should come up with a series of questions, and have all guests, as well as the mother-to-be write down their 'final answer'. No one should see the future mother's responses. The winner is the guest who has the most answers that are identical to the mother-to-be's answers. This can be a fun time to pick on each other and to help first time mother's-to-be learn some helpful tips.

A great baby shower game for moms-to-be that have not yet chosen a name is to have each guest make a list of 5 boys' names and 5 girls' names that will then be given to the future mother. This is fun for guests and can be a great resource for Mom when choosing her baby's name. Of course, if there's a father-to-be at home, she can take the compiled list of names home to look at together with him. This list might just be the most valuable gift that they receive! Be sure to have guests sign their list of potential names so that if one of the names is chosen the parents will know from whom it came.
