Economy & Health Care System for Baby Boomers

After World War II there was a sudden rise in the birth rate, children those were born then were termed as baby boomers. It is expected that by 2030 there would be 20%of ageing baby boomers in United America of the total population. And in countries like Sweden, Japan and Germany it would be greater that than in America.

People who were born in 1940 and 1960 are at times considered to be a burden on the economy and the health care system. There has been tremendous growth in the Medicare which affects the economic welfare of baby boomers. The rate of poverty is high among the group of baby boomers which includes Hispanic Americans or people who live in central cities or people who are above 85 years of age or people who live in rural areas or Black Americans. Though the rate of education is quite high people are aware of their rights and like to exercise them. The ageing baby boomers demand better health care facilities as they are educated.

As it is a well stated fact that women live longer as compared to men therefore, the rate of widowhood is quite high among the ageing baby boomers. Baby boomers after losing their partner prefer living alone, and the health and financial allowance is offered by theBaby Boomer government. Also the rate of expectancy is high which creates burden on the economy and the health care facilities of the economy. Ageing baby boomers are quite susceptible to diseases like arthritis, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, hip fractures and dementia

As there is a great pressure of ageing baby boomers, a lot of pressure is created on the economy and the health care system. As these people are more or less sick the burden is sometimes too much to handle. Ageing baby boomers make the maximum use of the health care facilities like medical treatment and the physical therapy. The major part of medical treatment is prescription drugs as 80% senior citizens make use of it.
