Disciplining an infant will begin with love and affection. They will need all the care and attention, when they need something. At these times they should be attended to. By doing so, they will begin to grow in a very secure environment, and they will understand that someone is there who loves them always. One must not punish them, but make them understand with love.

Disciplining the infant cannot be done overnight either. One will need patience and also use the right methods to discipline them. By providing a routine that is well planned for the day, the baby will understand and learn to accept that they have to follow it. By being there when they need the mother, they will begin to trust more.

If you do not want the baby to play with certain objects, it can be taken away, so that they never find it again. By shouting at them it is not going to solve anything. They will become disciplined in that area, and understand that they should not touch it. The infants must also be appreciated when they do something good.

If they are loved and hugged and kissed, when they do the right thing, they will understand so, and they will behave in the appropriate manner. If the infant indulges in playing with things you do not like, they must not be spanked. Instead they must be given something more interesting to play with. Every time you do this, they will know that the other objects are not meant to be touched.

They obviously do not do anything on purpose, as they do not know the importance of certain things. If they do something that is very annoying to you, it can be overlooked. After all they are not setting the house on fire. They must also be kept in a situation and environment where they will not be in danger, by hurting themselves. They should also be made to understand that they can only play and move within a certain limit. Once they are aware of this, they will understand the limit of their independence.
