Babies are the wonderful gift of god. They add happiness and fulfillment to a family. They are very precious and thus require special care- before birth and after birth. However, special care is given to a premature baby. A premature baby is required additional care especially till the time they complete two years of their life. The special care is also give to a premature baby in case the baby’s weight at the time of birth is 3 pounds and less.

Steps you need to take
After the birth of a premature baby, take you baby to your doctor and give him details about the way the baby is doing or responding at house. Inquire about feeding of the baby from doctor. In order that the child grows normally and stay fit, vitamins are recommended to a premature baby. In addition to vitamins, iron pills may be prescribed after the baby turns of four months. They iron may also be given in the form of droplets for about a year of till the thinks doctor thinks the iron drops are necessary for the baby.

Growth of a premature baby
A premature baby is generally smaller in comparison to a normal child. This growth difference remains till the baby turns of two years. It is very necessary that you keep a track the baby’s development and regularly report it to the doctor. Detail your doctor about the activities of the child, such as crawling and the first time your baby sits.

Vacation schedule
Premature baby is given vacation similar to the age of a normal child. However, some hospitals or doctors may suggest vaccination for a six month old premature baby. Do not worry if the baby becomes sick after vacation. There is a possibility that doctor may advise the vacation of the entire family so that the child is protected and thereby remains healthy.

Feeding timings
Premature baby should be given feed about eight to ten times a day. The gap between a feed should not be longer than four hours as this can cause dehydration in the baby’s body.

A child is god’s blessing and taking care of a premature baby will in due time make him healthy like the normal kids.
