Shifting Towards the Toddler Bed

During the years of raising a young child, many significant changes will occur among the parents and the child. One of the noticeable and important changes is to shift the child from his crib to his toddler bed and make him leave that crib where he has slept ever since his birth. This evolution is one way of providing mobility and liberty to the child while this can also lead to an insecure and anxious feeling in the child. Before taking a step towards this change, few things are needed to be done in order to make sure that this change will make things go the right way both for the parent and the child.

When to Shift the Child

The change of shifting the child from crib to toddler bed can be done when the age of childe is between the age of 18 months and three years. Some points can be noticed to judge the right time for shifting the child to the toddler bed. The first point is that if the child starts to climb out of his crib a lot, then this shifting should be done in order to bring the child to a lower level of ground for the sake of the child's safety. Another point is the height of the child. If the child gets three tall or stands and climbs out of his crib, then this is the time to move him. Not just height, but another factor when it gets important to shift the toddler to a bed is when his potty training starts off or when his sibling enters the family.

Searching the Correct Bed for the Child

When the shopping for toddler bed starts off for the toddler, then the parents can see that there are unlimited designs and colors which look very attractive and it gets hard to select any one of them. Prior to going to shop for the toddler bed shopping, parents should be familiar with the dimension, color and form of the bed which they will be getting for the child. The main benefit of shifting the child from the crib to the bed is that the bed is lower in height, thus it can prevent the child from falling down. This shows that the toddler bed should be lower in height even if there are beds available in higher heights. After this safety step is taken, the next thing to keep in consideration is the fashion of the bed and also that it falls within the budget of the parents. If there are chances that the toddler looks troubled and worried about the upcoming change from crib to bed, then make sure to take the child along while shopping for the bed and to let him choose the bed. If it seems like that child is not agreeing for the new change, then letting him play the active role in choosing the bed will create eagerness in the child for the upcoming change. After the toddler bed is chosen, then create a bedtime custom with the toddler inclusive of bedtime stories, songs, or some interactive stuffed toys. This bedtime custom will supply a better and happy time to both the parent and the toddler.
